DoubleSafety - Online help

"Destination" tab

You can use this tab to specify the location to save backups to. You can store them on your hard drive or in a local area network, send them to an FTP server or write to a CD or a DVD.

"Destination" tab

Hard disk or local area network

If you want to save your backups to the hard disk, select the "Local/LAN" option. Then specify the folder to save them to.

Uploading backups to an FTP server

If you want to store backups on a remote FTP server, select the "FTP" option.

Host - The address of the FTP server.
Port - The port to be used by the program. Usually, it is 21.
User - The username to be used for access to the FTP server. Leave it empty for anonymous access.
Password - Also necessary for access to the FTP server. Leave it empty for anonymous access.
Directory - Specify the directory on the FTP server to save your backups to. For example, if you want to save backups to "My folder" located in the root directory of the FTP server, specify "/My folder/" in this field.
Passive mode - Your computer establishes a connection to the FTP server in the passive mode. It may be necessary if your firewall does not allow connections from an external network. However, some FTP servers do not support the passive mode. By default, this option is enabled.
Proxy settings - You can use a proxy server when making a backup on an FTP server. Note that you need not an HTTP proxy server, but a special FTP proxy server.

Writing to a CD or DVD

If you want to save your backups to a CD or DVD, select the "CD/DVD" option. DoubleSafety automatically detects the type of the inserted media.

Device - Select the device that will be used for writing. Only devices that can write are displayed.
Folder - Specify the folder on the disk to save your backups to. For example, if you want them to be saved to the folder E:\My folder\, where E is the name of the disk, select your device in the "Device" list and then specify "\My folder\" in the "Folder" field.
Speed - Specify the speed at which the disk will be recorded.
Erase media - Specify if the disk must be erased before recording. If the Prompt mode is selected, DoubleSafety will ask the user whether the disk should be erased right before it is recorded.
Verify data after backing it up - If this feature is enabled, the archive is verified after it is written to the disk. It ensures that the archive has been written to the disk without any errors.
